Anon

This is in honour of all those anonymous comments that are written by considerate and caring individuals who think we want to read their well penned gibberish and 'check out' their websites. I mean, they're not annoying at all - I just love spending my precious time moving them into spam and then deleting them - I have removed all the website links to save you, my true readers, from any distractions. In the meantime - to Anonymous - Thank you for commenting and taking the time to read my blog posts.

(Inbetween the lovely, thoughtful comments I've inserted photos of Vintage Vogue 8851)

The other day, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone
and tested to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop,
just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!

I am really impressed together with your writing talents and also with the layout on your weblog.
Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway stay
up the excellent high quality writing, it's rare to see a great blog like this one today..

I may have to resort to the DcvrKLgtR 128806 coding system to filter out the spam comments but I've also been thinking about removing comments altogether. I do love to read your opinions and ideas and I find the real comments encouraging and inspiring; it's a wonderful way for us to build relationships.  I'm torn between the convenience of easy commenting and the ridiculous amount of drivel I'm receiving at the same time. Any ideas - not anonymous ones - please?

I did a small spelling mistake but I think I'll leave it up uncorrected

To annoymous - bugger off!

I frequently read comments. I'm not Anonymous. But since I don't have a blog or website, I am the etherial Alaskapsych. It is probably not much of a secret about me due to my selected moniker, but still I do enjoy a measure of anonymity.

I thank you for weeding out those undesirable postings involving things like scams and penile enhancers, because I'd be less likely to read comments if it were choked with such dribble.

I keep thinking about doing the blog thing, but I seriously doubt anyone would be enlightened or entertained by my musings about anything, least of all sewing.

I also appreciate the lack of having to discern what those twisted letters and fuzzy numbers are in order to toss in my two cents (I'm American, after all). But I would tough it out if necessary.

So SewRuth, it's your blog. You are welcome to do as you please. But I for one enjoy the comments . . .

All these random comments are driving me nuts as well, they seem to be targeting blogs at the moment so I got a giggle out of this post, who do they really think are going to click on their links?

  4. Poor Ruth. Have you tried turning off Anonymous comments? In the Blogger Dashboard...under Settings, for posts and comments, who can comment, choose 'Registered User...' Shoot me an email if you need help with this! I never get comments from Anonymous. Wacky names, sometimes, but seldom. cocos.loft@gmail.com

  5. I stopped having these issues when I disallowed anonymous comments and started to moderate anything 7 days or older...now that didn't stop my blog from being featured on an x-rated site for a minute, nuthin I could do about that but wait it out, the "lovers of he unusual" went away after awhile and my blog came off the site. But the first two things work well otherwise.

  7. I noticed that you had attracted a new following of the weird and illiterate. Turn off anon commenting and it will stop. I have friends who read my blog but will not get accounts so they have to email me and say "I liked your blog post" hhahahahaa For the other anons...buh-bye.

  8. Ruth, your sewing and styling is simply amazing. I'm always in awe of your makes.
I've stopped anon comments and am flying under the radar at the moment. So that must mean someone else is coping the spam I used to get.
I also found find that one of my posts from last year kept getting hit so I deleted that post. Strange...

  9. It seems that we all get the pesky anon comments. Since I moderate all the comments, I am able to quickly delete them without them ever being posted. Now on to more important things. The dress is a knock out. Spectacular job on the cuffs!

    1. I do have a few readers who have neither a Goggle account or a blog so unfortunately they cannot now comment. People are being forced into opening such accounts just in order to participate in internet discussions because of the spam stuff.

  11. Oh I know it's irritating but your post really made me laugh, well done for tackling the issue with humour. I moderate all comments now and just delete the nonsense ones, I'm not keen on the word verification thingy but I can understand why bloggers resort to it especially if they have lots of followers/comments. I have a tip for you, don't use the word 'fantasy' in a blog title - you can just imagine the interest that provoked! I'm astonished at my own naivety! :)

  13. Hi Ruth, I haven't yet had problems with anonymous (who seems to be very busy and gets around). I have turned of anonymous in the settings. No-one needs that sort of thing. I can only assume they are targeting female sewers at the moment, as there seems to be a lot of it around.

Your dress is, once again, quite stunning. Your work is always top notch brilliant.

  14. Ok, now Hony, you are treading into my zone: the foolish post that is supposed to keep people from noticing my lack of skills- totally unfair to make fabulous things (THOSE CUFFS! 19. Almost all spams to my blog get caught by Blogger and I don't get any email notices for those. I still allow anonymous and have no irritating captcha but anything over 2 weeks old needs approval. Unfortunately I do need to clear out my spam folder in Blogger occasionally though. Funny, you get a lot of the same ones I do, Ruth! I too think some of them are hilarious. And highly annoying!

Love the button cuffs on your shirt-dress!

  20. I too recognize some of the exact same comments. You do look elegant lounging in your chair in that last photo!

  21. Nice dress! You can eliminate anonymous comments, many have. I use blogger also and have some sort of spam set up so some of it gets automatically moved to spam for review if I want. Don't know how it is set up that way.

  23. Hi Ruth,
I just received an email that I would like to check and make sure it is from you before I respond. First of all, did you send me an email? I was not able to find your email address on the blog to double check. Especially after the above post, you can imagine why I would be weary of an email that is asking for something. I will wait for a reply here on your blog before I answer.
    Thanks!
